Middle East: Israel must brace itself for a potential period of isolation, warned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, attributing the situation partly to the stance of Muslims in Europe. Against this backdrop, Arab and Islamic nations have urged preventive measures against Israel.
According to Deutsche Welle, President Donald Trump stated on Monday that he was not briefed by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu prior to Israel's recent attack in Qatar. In response to this incident, Netanyahu's office emphasized that last week's strike aimed at Hamas political leaders in Qatar was an autonomous Israeli operation.
Following Israel's airstrike on Hamas leaders in Doha, an emergency summit of Arab and Muslim leaders, representing 57 states, convened in Qatar's capital. The summit resulted in a unified call for "all possible legal and effective measures" to halt Israel's actions against the Palestinian populace.
Additionally, the Gulf Cooperation Council, comprising six nations, held a separate session on the sidelines of the summit. They resolved to "activate the mechanisms of joint defense and Gulf deterrence" and advocated for the United States to exert its influence over Israel. Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi emphasized, "They have leverage and influence on Israel, and it’s about time that this leverage and influence be used."
In a related development, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, currently in Israel, is scheduled to visit Qatar to express "America's full support for Qatar's security and sovereignty," as confirmed by the US State Department.
