Doha: Israel Occupation Continues Starvation of Besieged Palestinians in Gaza: Al Raya newspaper highlighted the continued use of starvation by the Israeli occupation as a weapon against the people of Gaza, arguing that Israel is committing systematic crimes against unarmed civilians in defiance of international law and humanitarian appeals.
According to Qatar News Agency, in its editorial today, the paper questioned what moral or political justification the Israeli government could have for starving the besieged Palestinian population in Gaza, and for inciting their killing and displacement.
It noted that brute force has failed to secure the release of even a single hostage, suggesting that the real objective is further destruction, killing, and ethnic cleansing, a collective punishment targeting people, nature, infrastructure, hospitals, places of worship, and civilian facilities, as well as anything that supports the resilience of the Palestinian people in Gaza on their land.
The editorial said that, despite international warnings, the Israel occupation allows only limited humanitarian aid into the territory in an attempt to improve its image globally, even though it is the party responsible for Gaza's catastrophic reality.
It added that this Israeli approach has prompted the UNRWA Commissioner-General to expose the occupation's inhumane practices, revealing that the United Nations has around 6,000 trucks loaded with food aid stuck outside Gaza awaiting approval to enter, while the population is starving. He stressed that aid must be delivered by land routes in a manner that preserves human dignity.
The editorial argued that the Israeli government does not want Gaza's tragedy to end for political reasons, and that recovering the hostages held by Palestinian factions is not its primary concern, otherwise the aggression would not have continued for nearly two years.
The paper went on to add that, while international organizations and UN relief agencies sound the alarm about the famine afflicting Gaza and its devastated, defenseless population, the occupation continues committing war crimes and targets Palestinians waiting for aid, in defiance of international law and global appeals.
In this regard, it pointed to the announcement by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights' office that 1,373 Palestinians have been killed since May 27 by Israeli forces while waiting for aid in the destroyed territory, as they tried to secure food.
Al Raya concluded by saying that the extremist Israeli government and its apparatus of repression have no qualms about using all methods of killing, elimination, and destruction against anything Palestinian.
