Beirut: Israeli warplanes launched new airstrikes on southern Lebanon on Sunday, continuing the military escalation on the southern border areas.
According to Qatar News Agency, field sources reported that the Israeli occupation army launched three airstrikes on Kfar Hatta in southern Lebanon. Earlier today, Israeli forces carried out airstrikes targeting the heights of Al-Rayhan and Al-Mahmoudiya. Additionally, an Israeli drone dropped two sound bombs in the airspace over Karkazan neighborhood in the town of Mays Al Jabal and Ain Al Ashwaq Square in Kafr Kila.
On November 27, 2024, a ceasefire agreement came into effect in southern Lebanon, mandating the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the border villages and towns within 60 days. However, the Lebanese government later agreed to extend this deadline until February 18, 2025. Despite this extension, the Israeli occupation army has remained in five points and continues its activities, which have resulted in over 7,000 air violations and more than 2,400 military activities in the area. These actions have impacted operations of the UNIFIL forces in southern Lebanon since November.
