Iraq’s Foreign Minister Discusses Syrian Crisis and its Repercussions on Iraq with UN Special Envoy for Syria

Munich: Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed with UN Special Envoy For Syria Geir Pedersen the developments in Syria and their repercussions on Iraq. The Iraqi Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the Foreign Minister met with Pedersen, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in Germany. During the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest developments in Syria, the progress of the political process there, and the efforts made to achieve stability.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Iraqi Minister expressed Iraq's vision regarding the ongoing developments in Syria, stressing their direct repercussions on security and stability in Iraq and the region. Minister Hussein emphasized Iraq's firm position towards the Syrian crisis, which respects the will of the Syrian people and the necessity of ensuring the participation of all its segments in the political process without excluding or marginalizing any party.

The Minister renewed Iraq's call to the international community to intensify efforts to support Syria in achieving stability and enhancing community security, the statement added.
