Doha: Iraqi officials and analysts affirmed Iraq's full support for Qatar in facing the Israeli aggression that targeted residential compounds of several Hamas leaders in Doha, stressing that the attack represents a blatant violation of Qatari sovereignty and a breach of international law and the UN Charter.
According to Qatar News Agency, they emphasized the need for the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha this Monday to serve as a strong platform to confront the aggression and enhance security and stability, calling on the Arab and international community to take firm action against these hostile acts.
Advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister Dr. Hussein Alawi said that the Iraqi government's position on the aggression in Doha reflects the stance of HE Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani, who condemned the attack from the outset and expressed Iraq's solidarity, both government and people, with Qatar against the Israeli aggression, which constitutes a clear violation of sovereignty and a flagrant breach of international law and the UN Charter.
Alawi added that Iraq's position, as chair of the 34th Arab Summit, was manifested in the Prime Minister's call for an urgent meeting of Arab leaders and foreign ministers, in addition to efforts to organize an Arab-Islamic meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly sessions in New York this month.
Dr. Abbas Al Jubouri, political analyst, said that convening the Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha this Monday is a natural response to the heinous attack against Qatar, which has long hosted Arab efforts and supported peaceful solutions. He emphasized that Qatar has played key roles in resolving multiple Arab and international crises through its successful diplomacy, and that the aggression against it requires serious Arab action.
He added that the upcoming summit will discuss ways to confront these actions, describing them as a crime against humanity.
Iraqi MP from the Al Azm Alliance Raad Al Dahlaki stressed the need for Arab leaders to emerge from the upcoming summit with a firm stance, affirming Iraq's full solidarity with Qatar.
Similarly, Head of the Iraqi Al Masar Center for Studies Mazen Al Zaydi described the aggression targeting Hamas residence in Doha as condemned and deplorable, noting Qatar's significant efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza.
He said the attack represents a continuation of the ongoing aggression against Gaza and anyone supporting Palestinian resilience but stressed that it will not diminish Qatar's Arab stature and international influence.
Al Zaydi added that the Arab-Islamic summit in Doha represents a key platform to express solidarity with Qatar, which has consistently supported Arab and Islamic causes.
He noted that Israeli threats are no longer confined to Gaza and Palestine but now extend to other Arab and Islamic states, requiring everyone to stand with Qatar and support it in confronting the aggression, as it targets the stability and interests of the entire Arab and Islamic world.
Iraqi MP Yasser Al Husseini described the Arab Summit as facing a historic test to take bold decisions and called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to exert greater pressure on the international community to curb the arrogance of the Israeli entity, affirming his solidarity with Qatar in confronting the heinous attack.
