Istanbul: Iran affirmed that it will continue its peaceful nuclear program "within a reasonable and logical framework." In a statement Thursday, regarding the Iran-EU3 talks scheduled for Friday in Istanbul, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that enrichment in Iran will continue and that they will not abandon the rights of the Iranian people.
According to Qatar News Agency, Araqchi added that Iran is always ready to advance its peaceful nuclear program within a reasonable and logical framework. He emphasized that Iran has never failed to gain the trust of countries that sometimes express concerns. In return, Iran has made demands to respect its right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy, including enrichment.
Araqchi stated that the upcoming talks are a continuation of previous discussions, asserting that Iran's positions are completely clear and consistent. He reiterated that the world must be aware that there has been no change in their stance and that they will vigorously defend the rights of the Iranian people in the field of peaceful nuclear energy, especially concerning enrichment.
Talks between Iran and three European countries (UK, Germany, and France) are scheduled to take place Friday morning in Istanbul. Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei confirmed that Iran has agreed to hold a new round of talks with representatives of the three European signatories to the 2015 nuclear agreement, at their request. Iran and the three European countries held a similar meeting in Istanbul on May 16.
