Injury Toll Rises to 281 in Southern Iran Port Explosion

Bandar Abbas: The Iranian Emergency Organization has reported that the injuries toll from the explosion at Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas has risen to 281 people.

According to Qatar News Agency, Babak Yektaparast, spokesperson for the Emergency Organization, stated that 15 ambulances and four ambulance buses were dispatched to the scene to transport the injured. He added that the emergency department in Shiraz has also been placed on high alert, with arrangements made to accommodate potential additional cases. Emergency air services in the cities of Jahrom and Lar are on standby, and a rescue helicopter has already been deployed from Larestan to assist victims.

The explosion occurred earlier Saturday at Shahid Rajaee Port in southern Iran, though the exact cause has not yet been determined. IRNA quoted the National Iranian Oil Products Refining and Distribution Company, confirming that the explosion did not affect oil refineries, fuel tanks, or oil pipelines in the area. The facilities in Bandar Abbas are reportedly operating without disruption.
