Inflation Rate in Germany Returns to Rise in Last August

Berlin: The inflation rate in Germany returned to a slight increase, recording 2.2% in last August compared to the preceding July.

According to Qatar News Agency, data from the German Federal Statistical Office on Friday showed a rise in daily purchase prices, especially foodstuffs, due to the increase in inflation.

The rise in inflation rate reduces the purchasing power of citizens in Germany, that has the largest population in the European Union with about 84 million people.

The inflation rate witnessed a significant increase in recent years due to the repercussions of the Russian war on Ukraine, which began in late February 2022 and continues until now, and the energy crisis still affecting the EU countries.

The European Central Bank considers prices stable in the Eurozone when inflation does not exceed the 2% barrier.
