Paris: Inflation in France has shown a notable slowdown, cooling to 0.4 percent year-on-year in January, a decrease from December 2025's 0.7 percent rise.
According to Qatar News Agency, the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) attributed this decline to a reduction in the pace of price increases across several sectors. The statement highlighted a slowdown in service prices, which increased by 1.7 percent in January compared to 2.1 percent in December. Additionally, manufactured goods prices experienced a sharper decline, falling by 1.2 percent compared to December's 0.4 percent decrease.
Energy prices in France saw a significant drop of 7.6 percent year-on-year in January, contributing to the overall cooling of inflation. Conversely, tobacco prices rose by 2.7 percent, and food prices increased by 1.9 percent, indicating varying trends within different sectors of the economy.
