India, Pakistan Agree to Immediate Ceasefire with US Brokerage

Doha: India and Pakistan announced today that they had agreed to an immediate ceasefire following US-brokered talks to end the armed conflict between the two countries. The Indian Foreign Ministry stated that the ceasefire with Pakistan would begin at 5:00 PM local time today.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Pakistani Foreign Minister confirmed that the two countries had agreed to a ceasefire "effective immediately," adding that this was not a partial agreement, but rather a full understanding of the ceasefire between the two countries. He noted that military channels and hotlines between India and Pakistan had been activated.

US President Donald Trump said in a post on the Truth Social platform that India and Pakistan had agreed to a "full and immediate ceasefire." In his post, Trump expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the talks, congratulating both countries for using common sense and intelligence in reaching the agreement.

The announcement came on a day when concerns were growing about the potential use of both countries' nuclear arsenals. The Pakistani military indicated that the highest military and civilian bodies overseeing its nuclear weapons would hold a meeting. However, the Pakistani defense minister later clarified that no date had been set for such a meeting, as the death toll on both sides of the border rose to 66.
