The weakness and bankruptcy of the authority to an unprecedented degree, the arrest of Fatah leaders and the confiscation of their weapons, the brutality of the settlers after they were armed with American rifles, the bloody practices of the army against the population.
In 2001, Israeli F-16 aircraft attacked the Authority headquarters in the cities of the West Bank and besieged President Arafat. The residents left their homes and sat in the headquarters to prevent the occupation from bombing them in a brave act of self-sacrifice. Today, the occupation comes to destroy the Authority headquarters and arrest ministers and leaders, while the residents do nothing and do not defend the Authority because they understood that there is no coherent national plan to build a state and that the leadership itself is not interested in anything other than issuing seasonal statements.
The relationship between the Palestinian people and the Authority has become limited to an ATM, without a political, media, cultural, econom
ic, industrial, commercial or agricultural programme.
The situation in Gaza is not far different, and even if some analysts like to differentiate between the people in the two regions, the situation is the same and the concern is the same.
It doesn’t take intelligence to know that the Israeli plan is to demolish the largest number of neighborhoods in the West Bank camps and demolish Al-Aqsa Mosque. Whoever does not see this in Smotrich and Ben Gvir’s programs has not seen the sun. The plan to empty and destroy the camps aims to displace a million Palestinians west of the river to Europe (the Arab countries fear that the Palestinians will immigrate to them, but the youth of these countries ride the sea and immigrate to Europe!!).
Because the Zionist movement was unable to displace a million Jews to the West Bank, it is working to evacuate a million Palestinians from the West Bank so that the number of Jewish settlers and the number of those remaining in the West Bank remain almost equal.
Therefore, the Pal
estinians’ demand should not be to stop the war on Gaza, and we should forget that the war on the West Bank must be stopped immediately. Israel may stop the fire in Gaza, but it will not stop the fire in the West Bank and is working hard to provoke military operations and confrontations in the West Bank to implement the drawn-up plan.
Analysts may believe that ending the Authority will lead to the emergence of the Qassam Brigades instead of Abu Mazen’s Authority!! But this is a naive, superficial, and weak belief. Because after Israel eliminates the Authority, it will eliminate Hamas in the West Bank politically, popularly, financially, organizationally, and student-wise…
What Israel wants is to strengthen criminal gangs and the mafia, arm suspicious families and thieves, and keep people busy with their livelihood so that it can then demolish Al-Aqsa Mosque and build the Temple in its place.
The fire in the West Bank must be stopped immediately and simultaneously with the ceasefire in Gaza. In one word.
