ICESCO and AOAD Sign Deal to Boost Food Security and Climate Resilience

Egypt: The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) and the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening food security and tackling climate change across the Islamic world. The agreement was signed at ICESCO headquarters by Director-General Salem bin Mohammed Al Malik and AOAD chief Ibrahim El Dukheri, focusing on expanding cooperation in agriculture through science, technology, and innovation.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Malik emphasized the need for stronger partnerships to mitigate the economic and social impacts of accelerating climate change. He highlighted the importance of improving the management of water and natural resources and noted the growing role of artificial intelligence in protecting cultural heritage.

Al Dukheri commended ICESCO's efforts in environmental protection and smart agriculture. He expressed readiness to share expertise and promote modern technologies to support climate adaptation. The agreement encompasses joint initiatives in areas such as space technologies for agriculture, food security, climate resilience, smart farming, water management, and capacity building for agricultural development professionals.
