Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani presided over the closing ceremony of the HH the Amir Sword Equestrian Festival 2025, which took place at Al Uqdah Equestrian Complex. The event marked a significant occasion in the equestrian calendar, attended by prominent dignitaries, horse owners, and enthusiastic spectators.
According to Qatar News Agency, the ceremony saw the presence of esteemed personalities including HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al-Thani, HE Sheikh Jassim bin Khalifa Al-Thani, HE Shura Council Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, alongside other sheikhs and ministers. The highlight of the event was HH the Amir presenting the golden sword to HE Sheikh Hamad bin Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani from Al Shaqab Racing, celebrating the victory of the horse Al Ghadeer in the crucial eighth 2400m round of Arabian purebreds, an important part of the Triple Crown.
Additionally, HH the Amir awarded His Highness's Award for Arabian Thoroughbreds to Ali Al Ali, representing Godolphin, following the triumph of the horse Rebel's Romance in the seventh 2400m round for Arabian Thoroughbreds. The ceremony also witnessed HH the Amir bestowing the silver sword to Nasser Abdullah Al Misnad for the success of the colt Bianca De Ghazal in the sixth 2100m round of Arabian purebreds. Mohammed Hamad Al Attiyah, representing Al-Jeryan Stud, received the Shalfa as colt Aafoor clinched victory in the fifth 2100m round for purebreds.
In a continuation of the celebrations, HH the Amir honored the top finishers in the Al Sabiq heritage race, acknowledging the achievements of Mohammed Kumaan Al Hajri, Nasser Mohammed Al Shahwani, Omar Ahmed Al Khayarin, and Mohammed Saad Al Hajri. The event also celebrated the winners in the Show Jumping category, with awards going to Janne Friederike Meyer from Germany, Khalid Al Mubti from Saudi Arabia, and Antoine Ermann from France.
Furthermore, the Dressage category winners, Jassim Mohammed Al Kuwari, Jessica Megan, and Asma Yasser, were recognized and awarded by His Highness, marking the conclusion of a memorable festival that celebrated equestrian talent and excellence.
