HH Sheikha Moza Attends Inauguration of Precision Medicine and Genomics Summit in Qatar

Doha: HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, attended the inauguration of the Precision Medicine and the Future of Genomics Summit (PMFG 2025) at the Qatar National Convention Centre. The three-day event is organised by Sidra Medicine and was graced by HE Minister of Public Health Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al Mahmoud, along with other dignitaries, senior officials, and representatives from leading healthcare institutions and international academic bodies.

According to Qatar News Agency, the opening ceremony featured speeches by Julia Vitarrello, founder and CEO of Mila's Miracle Foundation, and Professor Edison Liu from the Jackson Laboratory. The event concluded with a keynote session focused on establishing a leading precision medicine sector in Qatar.

Sidra Medicine's Chief Research Officer, Dr. Khalid Fakhro, highlighted that as PMFG celebrates its 11th anniversary, the institute is committed to advancing genomics, applied research, and practical applications in precision health. He thanked the speakers, sponsors, partners, attendees, and Qatar's scientific community, as well as the Sidra Medicine team for organising a successful conference.

The summit, under the patronage of Qatar Foundation and jointly organised by Sidra Medicine and the Qatar Precision Health Institute, concentrates on artificial intelligence in genomics, clinical trials and real-world applications, and population-level precision medicine/genomics. The program aims to integrate research, technology, and clinical care on a population scale.

The second day of the summit will feature a public lecture on rapid genome sequencing and precision clinical care by Dr. Stephen Kingsmore, a panel discussion with global biotech and investment leaders, and keynote sessions on clinical trials, rare disease treatments, translational medicine, AI-enabled healthcare, technological innovation, and genomics data infrastructure.
