Doha: HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, attended the opening of the 7th edition of Qatar Foundation's biennial World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) at the Qatar National Convention Center in Doha. The event, occurring on November 13-14, is themed "Humanizing Health: Conflict, Equity, and Resilience" and highlights the necessity for health innovation that supports everyone, especially vulnerable communities and regions affected by armed conflict. According to Qatar News Agency, the opening was graced by the presence of HE Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani, several Excellencies the Sheikhs and Ministers, policy-makers, scientists, and specialists from across the globe. In her opening remarks, HE former Minister of Public Health Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari emphasized the transformation of the healthcare sector in the State of Qatar, attributing this progress to the support of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and the Qatar N ational Vision 2030. She noted that these efforts have enabled Qatar to establish a robust healthcare system, as demonstrated by the launch of the Public Health Strategy for 2024 in September. Dr. Al Kuwari expressed her gratitude to health leaders and workers in Qatar, including those at the Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation, and Primary Health Care Corporation, for their ongoing efforts in patient care development. She congratulated HE Mansoor bin Ebrahim bin Saad Al Mahmoud on his appointment as Minister of Public Health, expressing confidence in his leadership to further progress Qatar's healthcare sector. Her Excellency highlighted WISH as a pivotal platform for innovation and collaboration in healthcare, transforming into a global community that promotes safe and accessible healthcare while addressing pressing health challenges. She underscored Qatar's commitment to international cooperation and shared responsibility in promoting understanding and progress, aligning with the confere nce's theme to tackle global health challenges, particularly for those affected by armed conflicts. Dr. Al Kuwari also pointed out that WISH 2024 addresses significant topics such as antimicrobial resistance, mental health, and palliative care, with a specific focus on women, children, and vulnerable populations. She stressed the urgent need for investment in women's health and preventive measures to ensure future generations' health. The conference will also discuss precision healthcare, childhood obesity, and the health impact of air quality in arid areas, leading to the launch of a national plan on childhood obesity. The World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH), an initiative by Qatar Foundation, seeks to elevate global health standards through innovative and evidence-based healthcare practices. The 7th edition of WISH will center on four primary tracks: Health of Vulnerable and Minority Populations, Health and Armed Conflict, System-level Innovation and Change, and Community-Led Engagement and Interven tion.
