Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar on Monday received UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt Elena Panova and an accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, participants exchanged views aiming to conclude plans and strategies to control population growth.
The meeting comes within preparations for the World Conference on Population, Health and Development, slated for 5-8 September in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) under auspices of and attended by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Arab health ministers and experts concerned with population will attend the event, which will be opportunity for expertise exchange.
Abdel Ghaffar briefed the UN Coordinator on the conference action plan, which starts with the formation of technical and information committees to define the tasks and roles and follow-up, ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said.
They also included registration procedures on the conference website and venues for lectures and sessions.
The two officials also discussed stepping up awareness campaigns on the importance of population balance.
For her part, the UN official commended Egypt’s efforts in this regard and its adoption of advanced national strategies to improve the infrastructure of society and providing a healthy environment.
