HEAD ADVOCATES FOR GREEN MEDIA, PROMOTES ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS IN LEBANON

In a concerted effort to bolster environmental consciousness and action, a collaborative initiative spearheaded by the Human Environmental Association for Development ‘HEAD’ took center stage at Antonine University in Baabda.

The event, titled “Green Media: An Essential Partner in Environmental Awareness,” unfolded as a beacon of enlightenment, drawing attention to pressing environmental concerns.

Led by Patricia Souma Issa, Head of the Editorial News Department at the National News Agency, the seminar delved into the burgeoning realm of “Green Media’, framing it as a global educational platform crucial for fostering environmental stewardship.

Souma Issa eloquently articulated the pivotal role of media in galvanizing public engagement, urging for a paradigm shift towards interactive environmental content across social media platforms and robust investigative reporting on environmental violations.

Central to the discourse was the call for proactive involvement from governmental, private, and societal entit
ies in nurturing a sustainable future.

Souma Issa underscored the imperative of cultivating individual and collective responsibility, advocating for positive environmental behaviors and community participation in conservation efforts.

Highlighting the power of media in spotlighting environmental initiatives, Souma Issa stressed the need for comprehensive national media strategies in Lebanon and the Arab world. Her advocacy extended to the establishment of a dedicated Arab media platform focused on environmental issues, akin to international counterparts.

Emphasizing the nexus between environmental awareness, education, and citizenship, Souma Issa underscored the importance of instilling values and skills necessary for environmental protection within society. Her closing remarks resonated with a resounding call to action, urging media outlets to amplify their voices in championing effective environmental measures and fostering innovation in green technologies.
