According to Qatar News Agency, the three-day Congress, which followed a pre-event held on October 28 at the Itqan Clinical Simulation and Innovation Center, delved into the latest scientific developments and medical practices in healthy aging, brain health, dementia, and geriatric rehabilitation. A particular focus was placed on Functional Longevity across medical disciplines.
The inaugural ceremony saw participation from leaders of HMC, the Ministry of Public Health, Primary Health Care Corporation, private healthcare organizations, and the wider social care sector. Scientific sessions underscored the shift from merely extending life expectancy to enhancing the quality of life throughout aging, focusing on mobility, cognitive abilities, and independence. The importance of early intervention and preventive healthcare in maintaining health and functional capacity was also highlighted.
The Congress addressed emerging areas such as precision geriatric medicine, frailty, neurorehabilitation, digital health, and the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare. Key topics included community-based care, integrated healthcare delivery, and the necessity for multidisciplinary collaboration to meet the complex healthcare needs of older adults.
Participants explored the integration of healthcare, rehabilitation, and long-term care services to ensure continuity of care, which is crucial for preserving functional abilities and promoting independence. The Congress also featured oral scientific presentations and research posters, culminating in the announcement of awards for outstanding scientific presentations and research posters.
The event reaffirmed HMC's dedication to advancing long-term care, rehabilitation, and geriatric medicine services, while enhancing knowledge exchange with international healthcare experts. These efforts aim to improve the care and quality of life for older adults.
