Doha: The General Secretariat of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF) has announced the postponement of the start date of the 2025/2026 Gulf Club Champions League to September 30, moving it from the initially planned date of September 16.
According to Qatar News Agency, the AGCFF stated on its official website that the decision to delay the tournament was made at the request of the tournament's sponsor. The reason for the postponement is the limited time available to complete necessary organizational and technical preparations and arrangements. These steps are vital to ensure that the tournament launches under conditions that reflect its importance and prestige. The decision to postpone was taken following official approval from the Competitions Committee.
The AGCFF has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all technical and organizational elements are in place to guarantee the success of the Gulf Club Champions League. The aim is to deliver an edition that meets the expectations of its wide fan base.
The draw for the League was conducted recently, dividing the participating teams into two groups. The first group comprises Zakho from Iraq, Al Ain from the UAE, Sitra from Bahrain, and Kuwait's Al Qadisiya. The second group consists of Al Rayyan from Qatar, Al Shabab from Saudi Arabia, Al Nahda from Oman, and Tadamun from Yemen.
