Government Communications Forum Panel Highlights Trust as Key to Sustainable Economic Growth

Sharjah: During a panel discussion Monday, the third Government Communications Forum (GCF) explored the role of trust as the infrastructure of sustainable economic growth.

According to Qatar News Agency, General Manager of the Middle East at Dow Jones and the owner of The Wall Street Journal, Anand Joawn, emphasized the company's commitment to supporting Qatari enterprises and decision-makers through credible journalism, accurate data, and sophisticated unpacking tools. He pointed out that trust has become a crucial element in making decisions that are essential for economic advancement.

Participating in a panel discussion titled "Trust as the Infrastructure of Growth," which was moderated by Praseeda Nair, International Editor of The Trust at The Wall Street Journal, Joawn explained how decisions made by the State of Qatar, particularly in the fields of energy, artificial intelligence, and investment, have had direct implications on global financial centers. This emphasized the importance of providing reliable and accurate information to support the decision-making process.

Dow Jones has established a long-term presence in Qatar and the region, supported by a robust infrastructure and a field task force that includes journalists, data experts, and event and innovation teams. This aligns with Qatar's national agenda to help institutions access reliable data and information, according to Joawn.

Regarding artificial intelligence, Joawn mentioned that Dow Jones is investing in the concept of genuine intelligence, which combines AI with human expertise. He highlighted that cutting-edge technologies are used to improve efficiency while maintaining the core values of journalism, such as verification, editing, and professional judgment.

He concluded by stressing that Dow Jones enforces strict governance for AI use, based on transparency, moral obligation, and copyright protection. This ensures human oversight in all use cases, thereby strengthening the credibility and trust of the public and decision-makers.
