Berlin: The German Armed Forces will not be able to carry out its increased tasks without reintroducing conscription, Commander of the Field Army of Germany Herald Gante has said.
According to Qatar News Agency, Gante added in press statements that all additional tasks related to internal security, national defense, and military alliances require a significant increase in the number of personnel, which can only be achieved through compulsory military service.
He pointed out that the German army can train 2,500 additional soldiers this year and perhaps more next year, yet it faces challenges related to infrastructure, such as a lack of barracks and facilities to accommodate the new soldiers.
