General Directorate of Endowments Showcases Digital Transformation Experience at GCC Meeting

Doha: The General Directorate of Endowments of the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs highlighted its experience in digital transformation in the field of endowments during the meeting of the General Directorate of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting was held virtually to share research and experiences in the domain of endowment. The General Directorate of Endowments presented a comprehensive strategy for digital transformation, focusing on enhancing the efficiency of the endowment online system and streamlining the endowment experience through advanced internal and external systems. These include websites, smartphone applications, and an integrated system for managing banking and endowment projects.

The GCC participants acknowledged the Qatari experience and its technological advancements, emphasizing the significance of utilizing cutting-edge digital mechanisms and artificial intelligence to advance the Gulf endowment sector and enhance cooperation.

Dr. Khalid Abdullah Al Own, Director of the Endowment Studies Center at the General Directorate of Endowments, affirmed the necessity of digital transformation in elevating endowment revenue performance and sustainability, as well as enhancing community trust.

The General Directorate of Endowments is committed to innovation as a role and inspirational model on both regional and global stages, aligning with governance and transparency standards, Al Own highlighted.

He indicated that this paradigm shift aims to facilitate the endowment experience, focusing on smart management of endowment property and investments. This initiative is expected to positively impact Qatari and Gulf communities while contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Al Own detailed the digitalization pathways for endowment procedures, from establishment to tracking and growing returns, emphasizing their role in fostering transparency, efficiency, and resource sustainability.

Furthermore, the meeting underscored the Awqaf App, which facilitates online endowment procedures, including selection of type, payment method, maintenance requests, and periodic project tracking.
