Doha: The Director General of the General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf), Hassan Abdullah Al Marzouqi, announced the launch of an initiative aimed at supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The initiative focuses on enhancing their abilities and promoting motor development.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al Marzouqi, during a joint press conference with the Qatar Autism Society, emphasized the ministry's commitment to adhering to the conditions set by endowment donors through community partnerships. He highlighted the strategic partnership between the General Directorate of Endowments and the Qatar Autism Society, which includes providing a permanent headquarters for the organization.
He further explained that this partnership is supported by various funds, including the Waqf Fund for the Family and Childhood, the Endowment Fund for Healthcare, and the Endowment Fund for Scientific and Cultural Development. These efforts aim to assist individuals with ASD and support the Qatar Autism Society in its mission to care for this group.
Al Marzouqi praised the Qatar Autism Society's efforts, noting that the collaboration reflects the Directorate's slogan, "Endowment is a Community Partnership," showcasing the role of endowment in social development.
Vice President of the Qatar Autism Society, Saad Muhammad Al Ghanem, noted that the organization serves 1,600 individuals with ASD through workshops and training courses in both morning and evening sessions. He described the endowment efforts as a form of community partnership and ongoing charity, benefiting individuals during their lives and beyond.
Al Ghanem also commended the significant role of endowments in the society's success and operations, highlighting the contributions of donors to the Healthcare Endowment Fund.
