Lebanese Forces Party leader, Samir Geagea, on Monday issued a statement expressing concern over House Speaker Nabih Berri’s call for a meeting of the Parliament’s bureau next Wednesday.
Geagea criticized this move, suggesting that it indicates reluctance from the opposition axis, especially the Free Patriotic Movement, to hold municipal elections.
Consequently, Geagea urged all blocs and MPs, especially the Free Patriotic Movement, not to contribute to this extension, arguing that ‘many municipalities have been resolved, some paralyzed, and the rest are struggling.’
Geagea viewed the delay of municipal elections as ‘a blow to Lebanese society and a crime against citizens and the state.’
