New york: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mariana Betsa on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting commenced with an exchange of letters concerning the approval of the Joint Action Plan (2025-2030) between the GCC and Ukraine. This decision follows the consensus reached by Their Highnesses and Excellencies, the Foreign Ministers of the GCC countries, during their 165th session.
Throughout the meeting, both parties assessed the existing GCC-Ukrainian relations and explored potential avenues for reinforcement. They deliberated on the mechanisms necessary for the activation of the Joint Action Plan to ensure the achievement of common goals. Additionally, the session included discussions on the current developments in the Ukrainian-Russian crisis.
The GCC Secretary-General reiterated the organization's support for all regional and international initiatives and mediations aimed at achieving a political resolution to the crisis between Russia and Ukraine. Albudaiwi emphasized that the GCC's stance on the crisis aligns with international law and the United Nations Charter. It underscores the importance of maintaining an international order that respects the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence of states, while opposing interference in internal affairs and the use or threat of force.
