Chengdu: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, engaged in discussions with Shan Zhongde, Director of the China Atomic Energy Authority, focusing on potential collaboration in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
According to Qatar News Agency, the discussions took place during Albudaiwi's participation in the First GCC-China Forum on the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Technology, held in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province in China. The forum served as a platform for both parties to underscore the significance of strengthening ties in the field of peaceful nuclear technology.
Both leaders highlighted the importance of the forum's workshops and lectures, which are seen as crucial steps in fostering cooperation between the GCC and China. Albudaiwi emphasized that the meeting is in line with the outcomes of the Riyadh GCC-China Summit for Cooperation and Development, demonstrating a mutual commitment to enhancing the strategic partnership across political, economic, and cultural areas.
