Riyadh: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, stated that the efforts made by the Sultanate of Oman in mediating between the United States and the Houthi group, which led to a ceasefire agreement between the two sides, embody the constructive and effective role played by the Sultanate of Oman in supporting security and stability in the region.
According to Qatar News Agency, the GCC Secretary-General affirmed that the GCC countries, through their wise and balanced policies, continue to work towards enhancing security and peace at the regional and international levels.
Albudaiwi also reiterated the importance of de-escalation to maintain security and stability in the region, as well as respect for the right of maritime navigation therein, in accordance with the provisions of international law and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
