Doha: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has expressed approval for the signing of the Doha Framework for the Peace Agreement between the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the Congo River Alliance, also known as the M23 Movement. This development marks a significant step towards peace and stability in the region.
According to Qatar News Agency, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi commended the State of Qatar for its critical role in hosting and facilitating the negotiation process. Albudaiwi emphasized that Qatar's involvement in this agreement highlights its ongoing dedication to fostering regional and international security and resolving disputes through peaceful dialogue.
Albudaiwi also conveyed optimism that the agreement would serve as a foundation for comprehensive reconciliation and lead to enduring stability and development in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
