GCC and Portugal Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations

New york: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi met with Portugal's Minister of Foreign Affairs Paulo Rangel on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The meeting focused on enhancing relations between the GCC and Portugal to serve mutual interests.

According to Qatar News Agency, the discussions also included GCC-EU relations. Both sides agreed to finalize a date shortly to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that has been negotiated between them.

On the matter of GCC-European relations, the Secretary-General expressed his hopes for the upcoming joint ministerial meeting scheduled in Kuwait on October 6. This meeting aims to build on the initiatives set forth during the first GCC-EU Summit held in Brussels in October 2024. He emphasized the need to turn the summit outcomes into concrete actions and results.
