Gaza Officials, Analysts to QNA: Qatar’s Ceasefire Efforts Reflect Its Unwavering Commitment to Supporting Palestinian People

Gaza: Officials and analysts from the Gaza Strip commended the significant efforts made by the State of Qatar in partnership with the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United States to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

According to Qatar News Agency, the officials and analysts emphasized that Qatar's success in reaching the ceasefire agreement reflects its unwavering commitment to supporting the rights of the Palestinian people, noting that Qatar was among the first countries to rush to support and assist the Palestinian people in the face of the ongoing aggression on Gaza since October 7, 2023, by providing urgent financial and logistical aid.

They affirmed that Qatar succeeded in playing a pivotal and influential role in reaching the ceasefire agreement, leveraging its previous experience and position as a neutral and accepted mediator by various regional and international parties. They highlighted Qatar's ability to manage complex negotiations under highly sensitive circumstances and demonstrated its exceptional diplomacy in handling difficult political issues.

Director-general of the Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip, Dr. Ismail al-Thawabta, said the State of Qatar played a central, pivotal and crucial role in this historic agreement, reflecting its steadfast commitment to supporting and protecting the rights of the Palestinian people.

Al-Thawabta said in statements to QNA that the success of this Qatari effort is the result of a wise policy based on dialogue and honest, impartial mediation, which has contributed to alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people that have been ongoing for more than 15 months as well as restoring calm to the region.

He emphasized that Qatar's efforts to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza have been and continue to be highly appreciated by the Palestinian people and all concerned parties, pointing out that Qatar was one of the first countries to rush to support and assist the Palestinian people by providing urgent financial and logistical support.

He reiterated that Qatar's humanitarian aid has had a profoundly positive impact on vital sectors in Gaza, particularly the health sector, where Qatari support included providing urgent medical supplies, repairing hospitals and medical centers damaged during the conflict, and supplying modern medical equipment. This continues Qatar's previous efforts over the years to support the Palestinian cause.

The Director-General of the Government Media Office in Gaza expressed confidence that the State of Qatar will continue its efforts to provide assistance to various vital sectors in Gaza, including health, education, housing, infrastructure, and other important sectors.

For his part, a political writer and analyst, Wissam Afifa noted that the State of Qatar successfully played a pivotal and influential role in reaching the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, benefiting from its previous experience and its position as a neutral and accepted mediator by all parties. He emphasized that Qatar managed complex negotiations under highly sensitive conditions, proving that it possesses exceptional diplomacy to move difficult political issues forward.

Afifa added, in statements to QNA, that Qatar's success in mobilizing international efforts stems from a strategy based on several tracks, including an active neutrality policy, which has granted it credibility as a trusted mediator capable of engaging with all parties. In addition, Qatar adopted multilateral diplomacy, using its diplomatic tools to rally international support through the United Nations and regional organizations, while also coordinating with regional parties.

He highlighted Qatar's prominent role in alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people over the years, especially in Gaza, through various avenues such as direct financial support via Qatari aid, which contributed to providing salaries and rebuilding homes. Qatar also played a key role in reconstruction projects, such as building roads, schools and hospitals. It provided practical solutions to ease the population crisis, including supplying fuel to the Gaza power plant, which contributed to improving the lives of Gaza's residents.

Afifa also noted that the urgent humanitarian aid provided by Qatar during the aggression on Gaza was a vital element, with Qatar delivering medical aid and emergency relief materials that helped alleviate the burden of the blockade and destruction.

For his part, Assistant Undersecretary of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, Dr. Maher Shamieh confirmed that Qatar's presence was evident in the relief and medical support provided to the people of the Gaza Strip. This role was particularly highlighted in delivering medical aid, rehabilitating damaged healthcare facilities, supporting medical teams, and receiving hundreds of wounded and injured individuals from Gaza for treatment in Doha.

In a statement to QNA, Shamieh said that Qatar spared every effort in providing everything possible to support the Palestinian people. He pointed out that Qatari support for the healthcare system in Gaza helped sustain this vital sector and prevented its collapse during the ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip.
