The commander of the Gaza Division in the Israeli army, Avi Rosenfeld, announced his resignation in a letter he sent to the mayors of the Gaza Strip envelope, stressing that he had “failed in his life’s mission to defend the envelope.”

He wrote in the letter: ‘On October 7, I failed in my life’s mission to defend the envelope. Everyone must bear responsibility for his part and I am responsible for the oath I swore.’

He added: ‘As part of assuming responsibility as a commander, I have decided to end my job and service in the Israeli army after 30 years of service. I informed my commanders of this and will remain here until my replacement takes office in an orderly manner in accordance with the command’s instructions,’ as reported by ‘Russia Today’.
