Gaza: The number of fatalities resulting from the Israeli occupation’s military operations in the Gaza Strip has surpassed 71,662, with at least 171,428 individuals injured since the outbreak of hostilities on October 7, 2023, Gaza’s health ministry has reported.
According to Qatar News Agency, a statement released on Tuesday by the health ministry detailed that hospitals across Gaza had received two bodies and 20 wounded individuals over the preceding 24 hours. The statement highlighted that numerous victims are suspected to remain trapped beneath debris or in streets, with ambulance and rescue teams facing challenges in reaching them.
The ministry further revealed that since the imposition of a ceasefire in October, at least 488 people have lost their lives and 1,350 have sustained injuries. Additionally, 714 bodies have been recovered during this period.
Officials also reported the death of a child due to severe cold, raising the number of children who have perished from exposure since the onset of winter to 11.
A ceasefire agreement was reached between Hamas and the Israeli occupation in October, following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from densely populated areas of Gaza and the return of displaced residents to the territory’s northern regions.
This truce is part of the initial phase of a larger plan announced by US President Donald Trump, aimed at concluding the conflict in Gaza.
