Doha: Trade deficit in May rose to its highest level in eight months, official data showed today.
According to Qatar News Agency, the French customs authority reported that the trade deficit in May reached 7.8 billion Euros. This figure represents an increase from the deficit of 7.7 billion Euros recorded in April, matching the same amount observed in May 2024.
The data revealed a slight decline in exports, which fell by 0.3% on a month-on-month basis in May. Imports also experienced a decrease of 0.2% over the same period. Year-on-year comparisons showed that exports dropped by 0.1%, while imports saw a decrease of 0.3%.
