The French presidency announced on Friday that President Emmanuel Macron will visit China from 5 to 8 April to discuss ways to “restore peace” in Ukraine with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
The “Elysee” stated that Macron’s visit to China confirms Paris’ continuous commitment with Beijing to seek a solution to the Ukrainian crisis within the framework of international law, and to guarantee Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, pointing out that the visit will include three main axes: strategic issues and international crises, cooperation in facing major global challenges and economic relations.
The visit will also include discussions on the Middle East, Africa, and tensions in the Indo-Pacific region.
France intends to push China to use its influence with Russia to persuade President Vladimir Putin to sit at the negotiating table with Kiev.
