Lebanon’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants strongly condemned, in an issued statement on Tuesday, ‘the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate building in Damascus,’ stressing that ‘targeting diplomatic headquarters and missions constitutes a blatant violation of international law, and a serious violation of the Vienna Conventions on Diplomatic and Consular Relations, which guarantee the immunity and inviolability of diplomatic headquarters.’
In its statement, the Ministry extended sincere condolences to the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the families of the victims, wishing those wounded and injured a speedy recovery.
The Ministry considered that this dangerous escalation in violation of international laws and norms inevitably poses a threat to regional and international peace and security.
