First Episode of 2nd Mthayel Nabati Poetry Competition Wraps Up Successfully


Doha: The first episode of the second Mthayel Nabati Poetry Competition concluded at Mthayel theatre: Organized by the Ministry of Culture, the contest is held monthly and the final episode coincides with the celebrations of the Qatar National Day.



According to Qatar News Agency, the first episode featured poetry centered around injustice, recited by the Saudi poet Mohammed Khalid Al Subaie, who advanced to the finalists for the event slated for December, with the organizing committee determining the topic of friendship for the second episode, which is set to feature a contest between poets.



The committee highlighted that those who possess poetic talents from the Qataris and residents can register their names online to compete. The first episode featured intense competition among the five finalists, namely Khalid Badr Al Rehany and Omar Rashid Al Azmi from Kuwait, Salem Ali Hadi Al Yami, Mohammed Khalid Al Subaie, and Warda Raddad Al Sufiani from Saudi Arabia. They recited their poems before the judging panel and were given a line from a poem by Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani.



The second competition reflects the Ministry’s enduring commitment to supporting poetic talent and highlighting exceptional poets, by building on its successful past competitions that garnered significant attention. The competition focuses on Nabati poetry with a monthly cultural theme, crowning a poet each month. Participants must be at least 18 years old, complete the registration form, adhere to the competition’s theme and required number of verses, and submit original, unpublished works that comply with regulations and deadlines.
