Bursa: Firefighting operations are ongoing to contain a forest fire that broke out between the districts of Gursu and Kestel in Bursa, northwestern Turkiye, with strong winds accelerating the spread of the flames.
According to Qatar News Agency, efforts are continuing without interruption in the forested area where the blaze first ignited. Authorities have evacuated the rural neighborhood of Karadere as a precaution, while residents of the nearby Igdir neighborhood were also ordered to evacuate due to the fire's advance toward Gursu.
Turkish authorities reported that 500 personnel have been deployed on the ground to battle the flames. Aerial firefighting support, including helicopters and aircraft, was active throughout the day but was suspended at nightfall for safety reasons.
The Istanbul Fire Department announced that it had dispatched seven fire engines to assist local teams in controlling the fire.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, firefighters have been battling a large-scale wildfire in the northwestern province of Karabuk for the past four days. Official reports confirm that 14 villages have been evacuated as the fire continues to pose a threat to residential areas.
