Finnish Official Urges Qatari Investment in Finland

Doha: HE Deputy Minister for International Trade in the Republic of Finland, Jarno Syrjala, has extended an invitation to Qatari businessmen to consider investing in Finland. He observed that the current trade exchange between Finland and Qatar does not meet expectations and expressed Finland's desire to boost commercial cooperation with Qatar.

According to Qatar News Agency, this invitation was extended during Syrjala's meeting at Qatar Chamber on Tuesday with the Second Vice Chairman of Qatar Chamber, Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba, as well as HE Ambassador of the Republic of Finland to Qatar, Pekka Voutilainen, along with several Qatari businessmen.

The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade, industry, and investment. Discussions included the investment climates, available opportunities, and potential collaborations between Qatari and Finnish businessmen. The aim is to set up mutual investments and explore incentives provided by both countries to attract foreign investments.

Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba commended the robust and developing relations between Qatar and Finland. He noted that the trade exchange between the two countries reached approximately 338 million Qatari riyals in 2024, with Qatari exports amounting to 230 million riyals and imports valued at 108 million riyals.

He further mentioned that five Finnish companies are currently registered with Qatar Chamber, which includes one fully Finnish-owned company and four joint ventures with Qatari partners. Al Athba affirmed that the Qatari market is open to additional Finnish companies looking to invest, while many Qatari investors are keen to explore opportunities in Finland.
