Doha: Jordanian national football team Coach Jamal Sellami affirmed his players' readiness to compete in the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 and to face the UAE in the Group C opening match that will take place at Al Bayt Stadium on Wednesday. In a pre-match press conference, Sellami stated that the Jordanian team have arrived in Doha with great ambition, aiming to reach far and compete for the title, especially in light of the team's preparedness and high morale, having qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
According to Qatar News Agency, Sellami added that team Jordan handles one match at a time, with the focus now being on the uneasy first match against the UAE, who performed well in the World Cup playoff despite not qualifying. Although missing six key players for various reasons, Sellami expressed confidence in the rest of the squad to deliver a high-level performance.
For his part, UAE Coach Cosmin Olaroiu said that his team's task of playing against Jordan will not be easy, facing a developed opponent who has been putting in strong performances and achieving notable results. Olaroiu noted that Jordan have produced notable performances in recent years: reaching the AFC Asian Cup final and qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2026, yet affirmed his team's preparedness for the match.
The UAE Coach said that his team moved past having exited the World Cup playoff, saying that it was not a failure considering that the UAE played well and were the better side in both matches against Iraq. However, he mentioned that his team were not lucky enough. Olaroiu expressed confidence in his players, saying that it remains intact. He added that he looks forward to performing well in the Arab Cup, starting with a strong opening match that paves the way for the rest of the journey.
