European stock indices on Wednesday closed lower, as investors in the Eurozone focused on the results of US Treasury bond yields.

The European Stoxx 600 index fell by 1.59 points, or 0.31 percent, to reach 581.81 points at the end of trading, with most sectors and major stock exchanges declining.

The German DAX index closed down by 44.29 points, or 0.23 percent, to reach 19,377.62 points.

The British FTSE 100 index fell by 47.90 points, or 0.58 percent, at the close, to reach 8,258.64 points.

The French CAC 40 index fell by about 37.62 points, or 0.5 percent, at the close, to reach 7,497.48 points.
