London: UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer held talks in London with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. A statement issued by the UK Prime Minister's Office said that the four leaders discussed the importance of the US-led peace talks for European security and expressed their support for the progress achieved so far. They tasked their national security advisors with continuing discussions in the coming days.
According to Qatar News Agency, they also emphasized the need for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, including strong security guarantees. They agreed that, while diplomatic efforts continue, "Europe must stand with Ukraine, strengthening its ability to defend against relentless attacks that have left thousands without heat or light." They also discussed the positive progress made in using frozen Russian sovereign assets to support Ukraine's reconstruction.
