Jerusalem: The European Union commissioner for equality, preparedness, and crisis management, Hadja Lahbib, has condemned the demolition of an EU-funded school by Israeli settlers in the West Bank. "Amid continued vandalism, thefts and arson, Israeli settlers demolished an EU-funded school in the West Bank," Lahbib wrote in a post on X.
According to Qatar News Agency, Lahbib highlighted the impact on the local community, emphasizing that over 40 children lost their access to education due to the school's demolition. The incident has also led to fears among the community, forcing them to flee for their safety.
Lahbib's statement called for accountability and urged respect for international humanitarian law, reflecting the EU's stance on the matter. Her comments underscore the ongoing tensions and challenges faced by communities in the West Bank.
