Muscat: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, discussed over the phone the rapidly evolving regional developments amidst the grave military escalation in the region.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' statement Sunday noted that the two sides "exchanged assessments and views on the widening scope of military confrontations in the region and their extremely grave repercussions for Arab national security."

The Egyptian Foreign Minister underscored the serious danger of the current military operations continuing, adding that the escalation of the ongoing situation puts the region's security at a critical juncture. He also highlighted the need to prioritize de-escalation as to prevent the region from sliding into wider confrontations.

Touching on the recent attacks that targeted Gulf and Arab countries, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's full support and solidarity with all Gulf and Arab countries in facing such attacks, adding that this support stems from the centrality of the Gulf's security to Egyptian national security. Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's steadfast stance rejecting any attempts to justify these assaults or any pretexts for infringing upon the sovereignty of Arab states.
