Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi confirmed today the imperative of the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
According to Qatar News Agency, in a joint press conference with his Kenyan counterpart William Ruto in Cairo, El-Sisi stressed the need to allow full access to humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip to end the catastrophic humanitarian situation and start a real political path to find a sustainable settlement of the Palestinian issue. He underlined that there are constants of the Egyptian historical position in support of the Palestinian cause, which can never be waived in any way.
The Egyptian president said that the deportation and displacement of the Palestinian people is an injustice in which Egypt cannot participate, emphasizing that there are historical rights that cannot be exceeded. Egyptian, Arab, and international public opinion believes that there is a historical injustice that has been inflicted on the Palestinian people for 70 years, and that Egypt will not participate in it.
He added that what affects Egyptian and Arab national security can never be tolerated or allowed, highlighting that Egypt is determined to work with US President Donald Trump to reach a desired peace based on the two-state solution.
El-Sisi underscored that the solution is to establish a Palestinian state with historical rights on the borders of June 04, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Egyptian president continued that what has been happening in Gaza since Oct. 07, 2023, until now is the result of a long-term failure to resolve the Palestinian issue, and the roots of the problem have not been seriously addressed. He added that the current situation is the discharge of years of ignoring radical solutions, where the situation explodes every few years, as seen in the Gaza Strip recently.
