Doha: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his Lebanese counterpart Joseph Aoun affirmed, during a phone call Monday, the need to reach an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, end the Israeli aggression, ensure the entry of urgent humanitarian aid, release hostages and detainees, and quickly begin the reconstruction process in the Strip.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Egyptian presidency said in a statement that the two presidents affirmed, during the call, their countries' firm stance in supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate right to establish an independent state, and stressed their rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from their land.
Regarding the situation in Lebanon, the Egyptian president reiterated his country's unwavering support for Lebanon's sovereignty, integrity, and territorial integrity, and its categorical rejection of any violations of Lebanese sovereignty. He affirmed Egypt's support for the efforts of Lebanese national institutions to achieve security and stability within Lebanon. He also stressed Egypt's keenness to assist the Lebanese government's reconstruction efforts.
During the call, the two sides discussed regional developments and ways to achieve calm and de-escalation in the region, as well as enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields, particularly economic, trade, and investment.
