Doha: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a phone call on Saturday with his German counterpart Johann Wadephul, during which they discussed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry issued a statement indicating that both ministers expressed their unequivocal rejection of the policy of starving the Palestinian people and the ongoing deterioration of humanitarian conditions in the region.
During the discussion, Abdelatty highlighted that Israel’s repeated violations represent a clear breach of international law, international humanitarian law, and all related international conventions and norms. He also praised the German government’s decision to halt arms and military equipment exports to Israel that might be used in its military operations in Gaza, considering it a positive step forward.
The conversation further covered the latest developments concerning the Iranian nuclear file. The Egyptian foreign minister emphasized the necessity of a peaceful resolution and called for efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region while avoiding military solutions.
