Egypt, Italy Discuss Middle East Crises and Ceasefire Efforts

Doha: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and visiting Italian Minister of Defence Guido Crosetto on Wednesday discussed a range of crises facing the Middle East region, particularly the developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territory. Both sides addressed the efforts marshalled to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and the need to act immediately to end the humanitarian suffering of Gazans, as well as the reconstruction process.

According to Qatar News Agency, they expressed their rejection of displacing the Palestinians from their territory and reaffirmed the importance of enforcing the two-state solution by establishing the independent Palestinian State as the only way to achieve enduring peace and stability in the region.

In addition, the two sides discussed avenues for reinforcing bilateral cooperation in a range of fields, particularly the military and security ones, in addition to combating illegal immigration.
