Doha: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty and his French counterpart Jean-Noel Barrot stressed, during a phone call, the importance of resuming the ceasefire in Gaza and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian and relief aid to the Strip, in light of the severe deterioration of the humanitarian situation there.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release Friday that Abdelatty discussed, during the call, the intensive efforts being undertaken by Egypt, the State of Qatar, and the United States to swiftly reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and ensure its sustainability. He emphasized the necessity for the international community to assume its responsibilities in halting the Israeli aggression on Gaza and the West Bank.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister also underscored the need to achieve a just and sustainable resolution to the Palestinian issue through the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the Jun. 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
For his part, the French Foreign Minister reviewed developments related to the high-level international conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution, which is being prepared under joint leadership from France and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The two ministers agreed on the importance of a full commitment by both Iran and Israel to the ceasefire, and stressed the need for concrete and practical steps that would contribute to de-escalation and open the way for political and diplomatic tracks.
