Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Sudanese counterpart, Muhi Al Din Salem, currently visiting Egypt, engaged in discussions on the latest developments in Sudan, focusing on the situation in El Fasher, as well as the humanitarian and security challenges in the region, alongside issues of water security and enhancing bilateral cooperation.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry issued a statement in which Abdelatty expressed Egypt's unwavering support for the Sudanese people. He emphasized Egypt's dedication to efforts that aim to establish stability and peace in Sudan. Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's active participation in initiatives to secure a ceasefire and a comprehensive humanitarian truce, which would facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid and help alleviate civilian suffering.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister reiterated his country's steadfast commitment to preserving Sudan's unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national institutions, while stressing that Sudan's security and stability are critical to regional stability.
Regarding water security, both ministers affirmed their joint stance as downstream Nile Basin Countries. They emphasized the importance of adhering to international law in the Eastern Nile Basin and opposed any unilateral actions concerning the Nile River.
