Egypt and Jordan Call for Swift Implementation of Phase 2 of Trump’s Gaza Plan

New york: Egyptian Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelatty, and his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, have underscored the necessity of swiftly implementing the second phase of US President Donald Trump's plan for the Gaza Strip. During their discussions in New York, the ministers highlighted the importance of the National Committee for the Administration of the Gaza Strip taking on its responsibilities within the region. They also called for the rapid deployment of an international stabilization force to monitor the ceasefire, ensure the uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid, and facilitate early recovery and reconstruction efforts, all while maintaining the unity of Palestinian territory.

According to Qatar News Agency, the ministers voiced their condemnation of Israeli decisions concerning the annexation of lands in the occupied West Bank and the expansion of settlement activities, which they described as a blatant violation of international law. This condemnation was articulated in a statement released by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In anticipation of the inaugural meeting of the Peace Council in Washington, both parties emphasized the need to establish suitable conditions for initiating a serious and credible political process. This process aims to lead to the creation of an independent Palestinian state within the borders established on June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, thereby fostering security and stability within the region.

Regarding bilateral cooperation, Abdelatty and Safadi reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing close political consultations and increased coordination in the upcoming period. This commitment reflects the unique nature of the relationship between Egypt and Jordan and their crucial role in promoting regional security and stability.
